I knew it! Leaving home was tough. Yesterday as I crammed all my preparations for Nepal into one day, I also entered into the land of the numb - as in numb with nerves, numb with thoughts like "oh, god" what am I doing?
But I was as excited and certain as I was nervous and besides, I had a ticket. And dear Peter, husband and brave soul, drove me to Dulles with no traffic problems. The flight was perfect. I figure this is the easy part, right? Sitting in the lap of luxury as it were.
Oh, I didn't tell you about the lap, did I?
Well, I arrived here in Abu Dubai with 14 hours before Nepal. I could stay at the airport or spend $180 on a hotel room. The kicker is there is this lounge in the airport where I can stay for $56/4 hours. I can sleep, eat, drink as much as I want.
Very posh, and the chair thing where you sleep? It's really a people box. I would have loved one of these when I was a kid. Anyway, you get in and pull the box lid over and voila! Instant bed or secret fort if you're a kid :).
I am on my way to sleep. Will catch up with you tomorrow when I begin the next, second and final leg of my Journey to Nepal!!
